Catalog Numbering...Continued

This is a list of all titles I've been able to locate which have been issued on on MCA Videodisc, MCA Home Video, Optical Programming Associates and MCA/Universal Home Video, which continued to use the DiscoVision numbering sequence. In the early 80s, MCA dropped the DisocVision numbering scheme on new catalog titles, but maintained the existing numbers on reissue titles through 1992. As a result, any title already assigned a "DiscoVision" number would be issued for the first time a title under that title. A title issued under DiscoVision, but then reissued under a new MCA controlled label would have the DiscoVision number reused. For example, since the time-compressed P&S Jaws was issued under #12001, all three of the widescreen editions were issued new 4xxxx numbers upon their release. About the same time, MCA also dropped the hyphen from the number. MCA/Universal terminated use of the DiscoVision numbering system completely in 1992 after the re-release of Nighthawks.

Feature titles which are coded with either 40xxx number sequences (with or without the hyphen) are not included. Titles in the 4xxxx range were either not issued DiscoVision numbers or a previous release of the title had expired the DiscoVision number. It is not known when exactly the DiscoVision numbering sequence was terminated but the first film to use the new numbering sequence was Doctor Detroit at #40-001.

Titles listed below in italics were released on DiscoVision and then later reissued under MCA Videodisc, MCA Home Video or MCA/Universal Home Video, using the same number. The links will take you to the DiscoVision information for the title selected, where subsequent re-release information is listed.
