Stardate 47135.2 Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart) has been murdered! When the crew of the Enterprise learns that Picard was ambushed while visiting an archaeological site, they begin to hunt for the killer. An eyewitness leads them to Barradas III where Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) is captured by mercenaries. On board their ship, he finds Picard alive and well, posing as a smuggler. It seems the alien troopers are stealing valuable artifacts from archaeological sites throughout the sector, though no one knows why. Meanwhile, the Enterprise closes in on the mercenary ship and prepares for battle. In a shocking gambit, Riker joins forces with the mercenaries, orders Data (Brent Spiner) to drop the shields, and Picard fires on the Enterprise! Part one of two. |

Stardate 47160.1 Conclusion. After firing on the Enterprise, Picard (Patrick Stewart and Riker (Jonathan Frakes) play a deadly game of cat and mouse with Baran (Richard Lynch), the sadistic leader of the ragtag band of mercenaries who are stealing valuable artifacts from archaeological sites throughout the sector. While Riker earns Baran's trust, Picard discovers that he is not the only one on board with a hidden agenda. A Vulcan mercenary named Tallera (Robin Curtis) reveals that Baran is collecting the artifacts in order to reassemble the telepathic resonator, a legendary weapon of mass destruction. While Baran plots Picard's demise and Tallera plans to take the device for herself, Picard and Riker desperately try to find a way to stop them. |
