| Stardate Unknown Major Kira (Nana Visitor) receives news that a piece of wreckage from the Ravinok, a Cardassian ship that disappeared six years ago with a group of Bajoran prisoners, has been found. A good friend of Kira's was among those lost, and she makes immediate plans to investigate but learns the Cardassian representative, Gul Dukat (Marc Alaimo), her nemesis, wants to join her. Together they locate the wreckage of the Ravinok and notice a dozen graves nearby, but since there were more passengers on board there may be still survivors. As the search continues, Dukat reveals that he too is concerned about someone on board the ship -- his half-Bajoran daughter! | |

| Stardate 49195.5 A Trill science team arrives on the station to conduct field tests on experimental techniques for creating artificial wormholes. The leader of the team is Dr. Lenara Kahn (Susanna Thompson), a joined Trill whose symbiont was once married to Dax's (Terry Farrell) former host, Torias. Trill society expressly forbids reassociation with lovers from past lives -- the penalty for which is exile from the Trill homeworld and ultimately death for the symbiont. Despite Dax and Lenara's best efforts, they are unable to hide their attraction and soon find themselves reawakening old emotions and ties at their peril.
