As his memory lapses increase, it appears that reality is changing around him though no one else seems to notice. When Data (Brent Spiner) searches for an explanation, he notices a quantum flux in Worf's subatomic particles which makes him asynchronous with normal matter. Stardate 47457.1 Admiral Pressman (Terry O'Quinn), Riker's (Jonathan Frakes) first commanding officer, arrives on the Enterprise with news of their old ship, the Pegasus, which was lost with most of its crew twelve years ago. Their mission is to find the ship and prevent the sensitive technologies on board from falling into the wrong hands. In private, Pressmen tells Riker that he wants to try the secret experiment that caused the disaster twelve years earlier. He also orders him to keep the true nature of the mission a secret from Picard (Patrick Stewart). Riker agrees until it becomes clear that his deception could lead to the destruction of the Enterprise, but by then it could be too late! |
