Stardate 46778.1 While Riker (Jonathan Frakes) prepares to play the starring role in a play on board the Enterprise, he is also put in charge of an undercover mission to Tilonus IV. During rehearsals he experiences paranoid sensations which Troi (Marina Sirtis) brushes off as a side effect of getting into character - that of a mental patient trapped in an asylum. But during his first performance, the set disappears and he finds himself imprisoned in a Tilonus mental ward, accused of murder. Convinced that he is losing his mind, he submits to a dangerous neurosomatic technique while under the care of an alien physician. With Riker trapped in this fragile state of mind, a rescue attempt may be futile. |

Stardate 46830.1 Dr. Crusher (Gates McFadden) invites a group of distinguished experts to witness a demonstration by Dr. Reyga (Peter Slutsker), a Ferengi scientist who has developed a new metaphasic shield technology. When the pilot is killed during the initial test flight, the future of the technology is put in question along with Reyga's career. After Reyga mysteriously dies, the evidence points to suicide, but Beverly believes he was murdered. In violation of Ferengi custom and Federation law, Beverly performs an autopsy which proves fruitless. Picard (Patrick Stewart) is forced to relieve her of duty and she is scheduled to return to Earth to face a formal inquiry. Now, in order to save her career, she must prove her suspicions and find the saboteur! |
