Stardate 44704.2 On a mission to repair the Argus Array, a remote sub-station telescope, the Enterprise encounters a strange probe. When Geordi (LeVar Burton) and the notoriously shy Lt. Barclay (Dwight Schultz) take a shuttle to investigate, the prove emits a powerful charge which knocks Barclay unconscious. After returning to the Enterprise, Barclay quickly recovers and surprises everyone by destroying the probe. Bursting with newfound confidence, he appears to be a new man. But concern grows when Dr. Crusher (Gates McFadden) notes an astounding change in his brain tissue. Barclay has become the most advanced human being who has ever lived. As his genius spirals out of control, Barclay's behavior becomes more and more erratic. After mind-melding with the Enterprise's computer, it becomes clear that this once shy man is harboring more than just some ingenious thoughts. |
