DiscoVision Associates

In 1979, MCA DiscoVision brought IBM into the picture to attempt a revamping of the replication side of the system. It was hoped that the problems causing the alarmingly poor production yields and defect rates could be identified and corrected. With a fresh infusion of money, MCA DiscoVision ceased to exist beyond the name printed on the release jackets. The new joint venture was named "DiscoVision Associates."

DiscoVision Associates is still in business today, but their role has been reduced from manufacturing to one of licensing. The patents and technologies are still active today, and nearly every optical disc product uses one or more technologies which falls under the scope of DiscoVision's patents.
